Annual Sports Day 2019
The Annual Sports Meet of Saint John’s Academy was held on the 30th November 2019 which witnessed a large turnout of visitors at a well organized programme on the grounds of the School.
The Chief Guest on the occasion was Dr. Denzil J. Godin, MLA and Reader Botany Department. He was accompanied by the Directors of SJA, Mr. C. V. Innes & Mrs. D. Innes along with the Principal Dr. Zareen Rizvi.
The meet was declared open by Dr. Denzil J. Godin which was followed by the March Past by the smartly turned our students representing the four Houses. The School Choir sang the School Anthem which was followed by the customary Oath Taking Ceremony.
The sporting extravaganza commenced with extraordinary exercises and the spectators were treated to a display of colourful drills and races which brought about a huge cheer from an enthusiastic crowd of students of the School. The sports programme unfolded a variety of events including fancy races for children, Yoga displays, Pyramid formations and the much awaited 4×100mtr. Relays for Boys and Girls representing their respective Houses in all Divisions. The sports meet culminated with the Tug-of-war event which brought everyone to their feet and was a fitting finale to end the day’s programme.
The Prize Distribution Ceremony was held with Dr. Denzil J. Godin addressing the students and congratulating the winners. The much sought after Champion Shield was presented to the overall winners, the Dolphin House.
The Vote of Thanks was proposed and with the singing of the National Anthem the curtains were brought down to conclude a beautifully organized sports meet, which is one of the many activities in the School’s calendar of Events for the year.
